The Columbia University Engineering News (a magazine for alumni) reported in its latest issue that Columbia will be introducing a new Entrepreneurship Minor program. The bigger strategy, from what I understand, is an establishment of a related Technology Venture Incubator.

A course entitled “Design Fundamentals Using Advanced Computer Technologies” seems to be a requirement for the new program. Students will design products (or services) and plan a strategy of taking them to market as business ventures.

Sounds like a very interesting learning path for new undergrads interested in the business of software.
